Building & Facilities
St. Matthew's Episcopal Church is located on the rapidly expanding west side of Spartanburg at the corner of St. Matthew's Lane and US Highway 29. Two interstate highways, I-26 and I-85, are within a five-minute drive of the church.

Main Building
The original property comprised approximately 7.25 acres and was sold and donated by the Cleveland Family of Spartanburg. Since that time, St. Matthew's Lane was built which took about 1 acre of the property.
Constructed in 1960, the first building consisted of the Nave, offices, a small kitchen and classrooms. This served the St. Matthew's family until the early 1980's, when a 7000 square foot expansion was added which slightly enlarged the Nave and included additional classrooms, new offices, a larger kitchen and a gym/activities facility. In 2003 we again added to our physical plant by enlarging the church Nave and adding transepts. This allowed our worship seating capacity to increase to approximately 250.
Center for Mission and Ministry
On The Feast of Saint Matthew in 2007 we broke ground for a new 12,000+ square foot Center for Mission and Ministry. It was dedicated one year later on September 7th, 2008. The Center provides space for:
- Christian Formation classes
- Administrative offices
- Conference room
- Library
- Parlor
- Art gallery
- Preschool
- Whole Life Pastoral Counseling Center
- St. Matthew's Community Food Pantry
